Cocktail Evening & Charity Auction a Success

On 2 December, we were joined by Australian singing sensations Deni Hines, Christine Anu and their fellow musicians for what was a spectacular evening of entertainment and fundraising for the children of Kibera.

Look out for the next eNewlsetter which will have all the news about the event, as well as an end of year update from the school for 2009.

What are the facts?

At least 50,000 AIDS orphans and vulnerable children live in Africa’s poorest slum – Kibera – located in Nairobi, Kenya. Kibera is home to over 1 million people, where extended families, generally totalling 8 or more, live in small mud/stick shacks with corrugated roof and no electricity. There are no government hospitals or clinics, no proper sewerage systems and one latrine (hole in the ground) is shared by up to 400 people.

What are we doing about it? After seeing the need first hand in June 2005, Oasis Africa Australia was established to raise awareness and funds to help create a better future for these children through development of community based schools which provide food, education, shelter, safety, health services and essential trauma counseling.

All Oasis Africa Australia Fundraising is Authorised Under Section 16 of the Charitable Fundraising Act 1991 - Office of Charities,  NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing - NSW State Government, Australia and the Victorian Fundraising Appeals Act 1998 (registration number 9308).
